I was referred to this polish bakery by another merchant.
I enjoy polish style cheesecake and found on my first occasion that the cake was indeed good. However I was forced to wait approx 5 minutes while the store clerk conducted a personal call. I thought it odd, however on the second occasion, I asked for a cake and I was supplied with a stale one! These are premium cakes about 6 inch slabs costing $7.25 each. Perhaps because I was a single male or I didn't speak polish, this same clerk slipped me what she must have known was not a fresh product. I will be far less naive next time I visit this bakery.
It is a good bakery but you have to be careful as sometimes you may buy old product. I recommend the hartford rye, polish buns, cheesecakes, danishes and donuts. These are almost always fresh because they are popular. Items are usually fresh on the weekend so shop then. I find the torts too sweet and they are usually old because they are not as popular.
The make wonderful POPPY SEED BUNS.
I believe there are now new owners of this bakery, so you should probably disregard any older reviews!
Was a fan of this bakery when under previous management. Unfortunately the new owners have opted to go in another direction. Too bad.
The new owners have moved to Winnipeg from France. They bake with real butter and the bead is excellent.
They do not pay their bills
The owners are sweet and helpful . The bread is delicious , and the cake was nothing but success whether I brought it to a private party , work event , or had it in my own home for friends and family . Everybody always wants to know : "...Where did you get this amazing cake !! " I highly recommend it ! You will not be disappointed !!
Fantastique best word for new bakery under old name. Very French, lovely owners great olive bread, macaroons and pastries want to try them all. Great addition to the neighborhood
I LOVE THIS BAKERY!!! I make special trips from Grand Forks, ND every summer just to load up on sweets. My family actually calls our trip the bakery tour of Winnipeg because that's our main reason for visiting. My family adores the poppy seed loafs and poppy seed slices. They remind us of old Ukrainian traditions.
